Jennifer Carpenter Bio

Jennifer Leann Carpenter (born December 7th 1979) is an American actress. She is most well-known for her role as Debra Morgan on Showtime's Dexter. In 2009, she won the Saturn Award. Also, she was recognized for playing Rebecca Harris on CBS's Limitless. Carpenter began her character as Erica Shepherd in The Enemy Within which is an NBC drama. Carpenter's performance on The Exorcism of Emily Rose was her first major hit. She won the 2006 MTV Movie Award for Best Frightened Performance, and was also honored with a Hollywood Life Breakthrough Award. She was also named Breakout Performer during the 2006 Scream Awards. In 2007, she began dating her Dexter co-star Michael C. Hall. They got married in California on New Year's Eve 2008. Hall and Carpenter issued their December 2010 statement in which they announced that they had filed for divorce after being separated for "for a while". The divorce was finalized in December of 2011 because of irreconcilable disagreements. However, the couple remain close to each other. Carpenter and Seth Avett became engaged on February 10 in 2015. Carpenter was eight and a half months pregnant at the time she was featured on Limitless the pilot episode. Carpenter and Avett wed in May 2016.
